Current coupon codes cannot be applied to past orders. Only one coupon code can be used at a time per order.


We know you are excited to receive your beautiful items but please allow up to 15 business days for your items to ship. Furniture, Bedding, Curtains, Rugs & Vinyl Floorcloths, Lighting, Wall Clocks & Mirrors, Custom Orders, Wallpaper and some over sized items can sometimes take up to 6-10 weeks to ship. If you are uncertain if your item(s) have one of the above extended shipping time frames please contact us before placing your order as many of these items can not be canceled once placed and/or may result in a restocking or cancellation fee. We will notify you if pieces from your order are back ordered beyond these estimated time frames. Once your order ships we will email you a shipping confirmation so that you may track your items. Please note that the above are estimated shipping time frames only and cannot be guaranteed by A Cottage in the City. In the rare occasion your item becomes backordered, you will be notified by email immediately to discuss your shipping options.

Furniture, lighting, and some over sized items will ship via LTL Freight and will be delivered curbside. Some of these oversized pieces may not fit on the liftgate and will need to be offloaded from the truck with the customers help at time of delivery. 

All orders are shipped via UPS, FedEx or USPS with shipping costs being calculated by the weight of the item(s) purchased, the method of shipping chosen at checkout, and the destination address. International orders will now be able to checkout directly on our website with taxes and duties included. We are obligated to declare all items as merchandise and are not able to mark items as "gift". Unfortunately, we cannot ship to P.O. boxes.

* Please note several of our product lines feature standard free shipping (within the 48 contiguous states only). International orders are not eligible for free shipping. If you order an item with free shipping and are outside the 48 contiguous states you will be billed for shipping or the order will be canceled with a 10% cancellation fee deducted. If you order an item that offers free shipping in addition to one or more regular items, you will be charged only for the shipping costs for the regular shipping item(s). If you would like your free shipping item(s) shipped using an alternative method please contact A Cottage in the City for a shipping quote.

Pre-Order Items

Pre-order items are not yet available but may be purchased to hold your allocation for the next incoming available shipment as well as lock in the current purchase price. Some pre-order items have additional processing lead times once the items become available, and may not ship immediately. Please contact us prior to ordering a pre-order item if you need it by a certain time frame as canceling a pre-order item may result in a cancelation fee of up to 20%. Pre-order estimated arrival dates can not be guaranteed.

Sales Tax

Sales tax of 8.625% is added to all items shipped to a New York address.

Out of Stock Items

If you would like to purchase an item that is currently out of stock, please email us at and we can either order the product directly for you or inform you when the product will be back in stock.


As a small business, we strive to provide you with unique, custom-made, and carefully curated items; however, we understand that sometimes returns may be necessary and we want to ensure that your shopping experience with us is as seamless as possible. If you are not satisfied with your purchase, please email us at for a return authorization within 7 days of receiving your item. Upon review, we will email you a return authorization along with further instructions.

Please note that certain items are not eligible for return or exchange, as they fall under our final sale policy.

If you are uncertain whether the item you are ordering is considered final sale, we encourage you to contact us before placing your order. For final sale items, we recommend reviewing all product descriptions, measurements, and photos. Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions before making your purchase.

Items eligible for return can be returned for a merchandise store credit, less all shipping fees. This credit is valid for one year from the date of return, providing you with flexibility for your future purchases. Returned items must be unused in their original packaging.

Please note that return shipping is the responsibility of the customer, and refused shipments will incur a return shipping cost. All returns must receive prior authorization, as returns without authorization will not be accepted.

Canceling an Order

All order cancelations must be in writing and emailed to us at Orders that have already entered into the shipping process are not able to be canceled. Our furniture, lighting, rugs, personalized or monogrammed items, custom made to order Sugarboo Designs, bedding and special orders may be canceled, if they have not gone into production or entered the shipping process, but will incur a cancellation fee of up to 20%. If you are uncertain if what you are ordering is considered a special order please contact us to verify before ordering as some items are special ordered and ship direct from our manufacturers. Refused shipments will incur a 20% restocking fee and any associated return costs by the shipping carrier.

Floor Samples

Some items may be sold off our showroom floor at a larger discount. These items are expected to show some wear and tear or in need of some cleaning. Please contact us for more information or photos if you are unsure of a floor sample before purchasing as these items are final sale. 

Damaged Items

If you receive an item that is damaged or defective please notify A Cottage in the City within 24hrs of receiving the item. *Please include photos of the damaged item as well as the inner/outer packaging as these will be needed to file the damage claim. We will email you a return authorization with instructions for returning the damaged or defective merchandise and send you a replacement free of shipping. If you no longer would like the item that you received damaged you will be issued a merchandise credit for the item plus applicable shipping. For freight and white glove deliveries, please inspect your items before signing delivery slip to ensure there has been no damage. *If your shipment appears to have been damaged in transit, please take pictures of the damaged outer packaging before opening as pictures will be needed to file a claim with the freight carrier.

Holiday Returns

For items purchased from November 1st through December 25th of a given calendar year, the return/exchange date is extended out to January 10th of the following calendar year. Please note that the holiday return policy refers to in-stock items ONLY and all the policies above still apply.
